Le BENKEI Official Web Site

Location

The 1,300th anniversary of the founding of the Heijo-kyo capital was celebrated in Nara in 2010, and 3.6 million visitors were welcomed from Japan and abroad.
Nara Prefecture is home to numerous historic world heritage sites, including the temples of Todai-ji, Horyu-ji, and Yakushi-ji.
The city where we operate, Yamatokoriyama, is itself home to the ruins of Koriyama Castle, noted today for its cherry blossoms.
Doing business now in that city for 36 years, Le BENKEI boasts of a 6,000m2 location situated in a quiet residential neighborhood. The stone-built architecture is uniquely influenced by the styles of southern France. The interior is adorned with paintings and artworks collected from around Europe and Japan for our customers to enjoy.

Hospitality

The fare at Le BENKEI has been created from a harmonious blending of French and Japanese cuisine.
Our menu features seasonal items that combine local ingredients such as chicken and beef with vegetables, honey, and other items from our own farm.

We have hosted luminaries and notable figures from around the world at Le BENKEI.
Using the skills cultivated from those experiences, we promise you an experience whose quality is a step above the rest.

Owner and Head Chef : Kinji Ogawa

Applying his experiences from having grown up at a traditional ryotei-style Japanese restaurant, our head chef originated the style of using chopsticks to enjoy creative French cuisine made by applying techniques of Japanese cooking. He is also deeply knowledgeable about arts and crafts, having helped to create and decorate dishware to match the food. In recent years, he has also been focusing his attention on dietary education for children and given numerous lectures around the country.
